The title to this web page poses the question: Who killed Tyler Cassidy? Slowly but surely, the question is being answered. An Inquest into the circumstances of Tyler's death will be held some time in 2010.

On Friday, 11 December 2009, on the 1st anniversary of the execution of 15 year old Tyler Cassidy by 2 Police Officers from Northcote Police Station and 2 from the Preston Police Station, Tyler's mother, Shani, together with several hundred relatives and friends, held a ceremony to commemorate the 1st anniversary of Tyler's execution.

"TYLER was only 15 and a child," Shani Cassidy said, choking back tears as she addressed the large crowd gathered at the Northcote skate park last Friday night to commemorate her son, the youngest Australian shot dead by police.

Just after 9.30pm, more than 200 family members, friends and community members lit sparklers to symbolise the last moments of the Northcote teenager's life.

It was almost exactly a year after Tyler died. Allegedly armed with two kitchen knives, he was shot dead by three police officers after a short confrontation at the park.

Ms Cassidy read a poem she had written for Tyler in which she vowed to fight for justice:

"Be patient, my darling, as I will fight for justice I promise I will do my best," she read with a trembling but resolute voice. "I will forever live and breathe you."
