The title to this web page poses the question: Who killed Tyler Cassidy? It is now in the public domain that the following 3 Victorian Police Officers fired 10 bullets at Tyler, 6 of which actually hit him:
-
Leading Senior Constable Colin DODS (as he then was)- 6 Bullets;
-
Senior Constable Richard Blundell - 3 Bullets; and
-
Senior Constable Nicole de Propertis - 1 Bullet.
Pathologist Dr Noel Woodford told the inquest, on 11 November, 2010, that Tyler was hit:
1. in the chest;
2. in the right forearm;
3. in the right knee; and
4. twice in the right thigh;
Tyler died from the chest wound.
In his report, he said none of the bullets were found in Tyler's body, adding:
“He had no drugs in his system, but a blood alcohol reading of .09.”
Updates will be published on the "Latest News" webpage.
WHO KILLED TYLER CASSIDY?
Sgt Dods version:
''According to Dods, he discharged a single shot into the ground as a warning,'' Ms Ellis said.
''Tyler kept advancing and Dods said that he was extremely fearful for his safety.''
Ms Ellis said Sergeant Dods said he fired another two shots into Tyler's thighs.
''According to Dods, as Tyler continued to advance he took aim at his chest area and kept firing until he went to the ground.''
Snr Constable de Propertis' version:
In her statement, part of which was read in court yesterday, she said Ldg Sen-Constable Dods then fired a warning shot into the ground.
``It had no effect whatsoever. He was still advancing,'' she said. ``It didn't stop him in his tracks at all.''
Two or three shots were then fired, she said, either by Leading Sen-Constable Dods or Sen-Constable Blundell as Tyler continued to advance.
``I knew at least one or two of them had hit him,'' Constable De Propertis said.
``He turned slightly like he had been hit . . . but he still continued towards Ldg Sen-Constable Dods and he still had the knives pointed up in hands.''
After another two shots, Tyler "…momentarily lowered himself…." to his knees.
``He still had both knives and throughout this whole time we were still yelling at him and he still kept going,'' Constable De Propertis said.
``He was still moving normally like he hadn't been injured. He appeared capable of being able to jump and lunge.''
The inquest previously heard that in a second statement, Constable De Propertis ``…gives an account of Tyler lunging -- knees bent, but not touching the ground after which he straightens and moves again towards Dods''.
In her first statement she continued with: ``He began to stand up and . . . still had both the knives in his hands.
``That's when I discharged a round at the male to prevent him from attacking and in defence of Ldg Sen-Constable Dods. I aimed towards the chest.
``About the same time or immediately after, Sen-Constable Blundell fired another shot and (Tyler) stopped and kind of fell to his left.''
YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS !
Tyler was 5ft 7 ins and weighed 58kgs. Pathology Reports proved that he had not taken any drugs. He had been sprayed in the face with Mace by Dods just seconds before being fatally shot. The 4 Police Officers surrounded Tyler in a 13 Hectare Park where nobody else was in the immediate vicinity. The Police Officers had been told that the Dog Squad was only a couple of minutes away.
On these versions, these Police Officers would have you believe that they were dealing with The Terminator; not a 15 year old boy who had not yet begun to shave!
Officers told to wait for dog squad
The inquest into the police shooting of Tyler Cassidy has heard officers involved were ordered to wait for the dog squad before they opened fire.
The 15-year-old was armed with two knives when he was shot dead by police during a confrontation at a Northcote skate park in December 2008.
Acting Sergeant Scott Gevaux told the inquest he had radio contact with the four officers dealing with the teenager and told them to 'corner and contain' him until the dog squad arrived.
Just 75 seconds later the teenager was shot by 3 of the officers.
